Closing the gap
The single most important reason why you feel lost and don’t know what you want to do with your life is that your current situation does not match your story of how your life should be. There is a gap between what you think your life should be like and what your life is actually like. This gap has slowly begun to manifest itself and your subconscious has finally reached a point of breaking through to your conscious mind and you feel a certain sense of unease and you feel like you need a change, but don’t know what that’s going to be. Breakdowns leads to breakthroughs they say, and we start here on a journey to discover what is your life story, how does that fit within your archetype and natural drivers. The story of your life consists of two main components:
1. The plot (story line)
What is your life like? What will you be doing? Where will you be living? Will you have kids? What kind of job do you have? What are your relationships like? Are you fit, healthy and happy?
2. The character (you)
There are certain activities and environments where you are the most comfortable and this is your archetype. Carl Jung and others have studied archetypes for years and years – I don't think it's necessary. You have to understand your needs, what drives you? What brings you joy and fulfillment?
By going through a process of discovery, you’ll learn about your plot and your character. An important nuance is to perform this analysis from the perspective of an author, not the character. It's easier to change a story when you are not in it. It’s also very important to understand the why behind your needs so you can assess whether they're truly your own or are they imposed subconsciously by your parents? The friends around you?
An aligned life story, embarking on that journey and then creating passion and purpose is where you’ll find fulfillment.
And everything begins with Self-awareness.
